This Privacy Policy explains how GPManual.com ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our website at https://gpmanual.com. We take your privacy seriously and are committed to full compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), UK GDPR, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)
GPManual.com is a free clinical reference resource for General Practitioners. For GDPR purposes, GPManual.com acts as the Data Controller for any personal data processed via this website.
If you have any questions or wish to exercise your data rights, you can reach us at: privacy@gpmanual.com
2. What Data We Collect and Why
We collect only anonymous usage analytics and only when you have given explicit consent. No personally identifiable information (PII), health data, or patient data is ever collected.

3. Legal Basis for Processing
Under GDPR Article 6(1)(a), the legal basis for analytics processing is your freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent. We obtain this via the cookie consent banner that appears on your first visit.
Analytics only activate after you click "Accept". If you click "Decline" or simply close the banner without accepting, no cookies are placed and no data is sent to Google. We implement Google Consent Mode v2 to enforce this technically, not just as a policy commitment.
4. Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
We use Google Analytics 4 (Property ID: G-QF9VCP59M4), a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA.
GA4 processes data in accordance with Google's Data Processing Amendment. Anonymised session data may be transferred to Google servers, including in the United States, under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) as required by GDPR Chapter V.
We have disabled advertising features, cross-site tracking, and data sharing with Google products in the GA4 property settings. IP anonymisation is enabled by default in GA4.
5. Cookies We Use
The table below lists every cookie or storage item this site may set. Analytics cookies are only set after consent. The consent preference cookie is a functional cookie that remembers your choice and does not require consent itself.
| Cookie / Key | Purpose | Lifespan | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Distinguishes unique users by assigning a randomly generated client ID | 2 years | Google Analytics (GA4) |
| _ga_QF9VCP59M4 | Persists session state for GA4 property G-QF9VCP59M4 | 2 years | Google Analytics (GA4) |
| _gid | Distinguishes users (expires quickly — used for short-term session analysis) | 24 hours | Google Analytics (GA4) |
| gpmanual_cookie_consent | Stores your cookie consent choice (accepted / declined) so the banner does not reappear on every visit | Until manually cleared | GPManual.com (localStorage) |
* gpmanual_cookie_consent is stored in localStorage, not as a browser cookie. It is never transmitted to any server.
6. How to Opt Out or Change Your Consent
You have several ways to withdraw or change your analytics consent at any time:

All modern browsers allow you to block third-party cookies or all cookies. Refer to your browser's privacy settings. Note: the site functions identically with cookies blocked.
7. Third-Party Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. The only third party that receives analytics data is Google LLC (via GA4), and only when you have consented.
For more on how Google processes analytics data, see: Google Privacy Policy and GA4 Data Safeguarding.
