HomeAbout & Editorial Standards Editorial Standards & Clinical Review
GPManual is written and peer-reviewed by qualified General Practitioners. Every piece of clinical content is sourced from authoritative guidelines — NICE, BNF, SIGN, WHO, and major specialty societies — and reviewed by MRCGP-credentialed editors before publication.
Our Mission
GPManual exists to give every General Practitioner — whether in a busy urban surgery or a remote rural practice — instant access to accurate, evidence-based clinical decision support. We believe that access to high-quality clinical information should be free, fast, and trustworthy.

Our Review Process
How clinical content is created, verified, and kept up to date
Guideline Identification
Content is sourced directly from NICE, BNF, SIGN, WHO, ESC, AHA/ACC, BTS, RCOG, KDIGO, and other major international bodies. We do not create original clinical recommendations.
Clinical Drafting
A specialty-trained GP editor drafts or updates content, cross-referencing the primary guideline source. All drug doses are verified against the current BNF/BNFc.
Peer Review
A second clinical editor with relevant specialty interest independently reviews the content for accuracy, completeness, and clinical applicability in UK general practice.
Evidence Grading
Where applicable, recommendations are labelled with their evidence source (e.g. NICE NG, SIGN, Cochrane). Consensus-based or expert-opinion content is clearly distinguished.
Annual Review Cycle
All modules are reviewed at least annually. When a major guideline update is published (e.g. NICE NG, ESC guidelines), the relevant content is updated within 90 days.
Continuous Monitoring
Our editorial team monitors NICE, MHRA, BNF, and major specialty society feeds for urgent safety updates, drug alerts, and guideline revisions requiring immediate action.
Primary Guideline Sources
GPManual does not create original clinical recommendations — all content is derived from these authoritative bodies
Scope, Limitations & Disclaimer
Designed for Healthcare Professionals
GPManual is intended for use by qualified General Practitioners, medical students, and other healthcare professionals. It is not designed for patient self-diagnosis or self-treatment.
Clinical Judgment Remains Primary
All content is designed to support — not replace — physician clinical judgment. Individual patient circumstances, comorbidities, and local formulary restrictions must always be considered.
UK Primary Care Focus
Content is primarily aligned with UK general practice guidelines (NICE, BNF, SIGN). Clinicians in other countries should verify recommendations against their local national guidelines.
Currency of Information
While we strive to keep content current, guidelines change. Always verify critical prescribing decisions against the current BNF and the most recent version of the relevant guideline.
Report an Error or Suggest an Update
If you believe any clinical content is inaccurate, outdated, or missing an important guideline update, please contact our editorial team. We take clinical accuracy seriously and aim to respond to all correction requests within 5 working days.
